Hello,

My wife and I are in our early 30's and planning on moving to West Palm Beach. From these forums, we have learned that Lake Worth is a good area for lesbians.

We are laid-back, left-leaning, not into the bar scene, but enjoy hanging out with people around our age. We like pub trivia, walking our dogs, hiking.

Do you think we will be likely to meet other people with similar interests? Also, I've seen a lot of posts about good/bad neighborhoods in the area. We are not bothered by culturally diverse areas and will eventually look for a modest home in the 130's-- is it realistic to find a home in this range, in a safe neighborhood? With a yard?

Thanks you so much!

I think you find the area very attractive to you but be careful in selecting neighborhoods which you can look at in the stickied thread showing safe and bad areas of Palm Beach County. Coming from Kentucky(as stated in your name) you will find South Florida really expensive compared to there. So you may have to stretch your budget to be in a good area. That's all the advice I can give you for now and just want to say good luck with your search.

Fl1150, thank you so much for your feedback! For whatever reason I'm not able to see the map of safe and bad areas-- but from what I have read in these forums it sounds like it's best to stay in north Lake Worth and east of Dixie Hwy. We are prepared for higher cost of living-- I think Kentucky has one of the lowest costs of living in the nation, if not the absolute lowest. Thank you again for your response!

Yes, Lake Worth is pretty laid back in that way. Large LGBT community in Lake Worth and West Palm Beach (city proper). You may have to explore meet-ups, etc. to find people with specific interests.

Yes LW is good for LGBT, I know several couples in the Parrot Cove neighborhood especially. There are several places for sale there. They might be getting a bit pricier now; they were in your range a couple of years ago. You might have to go K Street, L Street--I love the vegetation on L St- for a couple of blocks it's lush

I'm actually looking for the exact scenario. The only piece I would add is is there public transportation to get to administrative type work (offices etc) and walk ability to grocery stores etc.? Is Parrot Cove and or Lake Worth good for that. i may come down for a week in the first part of April to take a look.

Tri- Rail is a option for you but you have to live close to the stop for it to be useful. Lake Worth Station | Tri Rail
