Lake Worth is a sanctuary city...research it well before you move there.

We just moved to Wellington 6 months ago. In this short time, I have learned that I would definitely not want to live in lake worth!! There are so many nicer areas. Wellington is a little further west, but we really love it here!

Hyattjm, agreed wellington is nicer than lake worth, but western lake worth is okay to and borders wellington, communities like woods walk and Farmington are very nice and basically wellington with a lake worth zip code

If you google "crime-o-meter West Palm Beach" and "neighborhood-o-meter West Palm Beach" both maps will pop right up.

We are early 30's, also laid back, also from frigid midwest, looking to move there soon.

Are there bordering cities you'd strongly recommend over it?

We're married late 30's, no kids, laid back & from frigid michigan. Possible transfer to Lake Worth. Budget $250,000ish +/-. I'm more interested in location to beach & shop locally for groceries, etc. It looks like there are lots of community events. Artsy. But, is it safe?

I wish the Neighborhood-o-meter was accessible :0/
Choose Del Ray Beach for what you are looking for. You may be able to find a cheap townhouse or condo for that money. Del Ray is artsy and then some.

Lake Worth is cool, but unless you know where you are, where to live, where to eat, etc., it's just a little too dicey for a first timer. It can be a great place to live - but you really need to know more about it.

I live in what's considered a good neighborhood in east Lake Worth. It's like a police state. People are unfriendly and suspicious of each other. This is just my experience. Some people love it. My neighborhood is nice. The people (in my neighborhood)are very ignorant for the most part, which is really sad. This place could be so cute. And they market it as the cultural center of Palm Beach County. I hang out in West Palm as hanging out in Delray is very painful-I miss it so much and wish I had never moved from there.
