We've been looking at a few places to relocate to from California and we have been considering South Florida. The West Palm Beach area came up in our research. On the face of it there are good schools, it looks pretty safe and modern (there seem to be new homes being built). Do you think this area would suit a family with 2 kids (2 and 5) looking for a quiet, safe and clean place to bring up kids?

Our budget would be about $450K max for a single family home. We've done some research and this looks like a good bet. Would you recommend it? Which areas would you recommend? If I had to get to Miami once a week would it be painful?

Thanks for any local advice.

not west palm beach itself, stay clear. but palm beach county yes. Look into Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington and Boca Raton. Boca would be closest to Miami, followed by Wellington, then PBG, then Jupiter. Figure 60 to 90 minutes depending on which town and time of day

Thanks. Somewhere around West Palm sounds good. The trip to Miami might only be once a week so that's not a huge deal. Thanks for the info I'll look into these areas.

Check out Wellington. In that price point there will be a good amount of value/home for your purchase.
