I am in my late 20's and I currently live in WPB; I have accepted a position in northern Coconut Creek, right by the Palm Beach County/Broward County border. I would prefer not to spend more than $1,200 per month on rent, but I can go above that if needed.

With this information, what are some preferred (and safe) places to live in Coconut Creek, Boca, or Delray... and do you guys have any recommendations on places in those towns?

Much appreciated.

Coconut Creek isn't bad and maybe consider west Deerfield Beach?

The section of Boca that borders Coconut Creek on 441 has sadly not aged well so you're probably not going to want to consider that area. It's called Sandalfoot and my company used to have an office there in the late 1980's-- what a change in 30 years, and not for the better. In Coconut Creek, check out any rentals in either The Township or around The Prommenade--both lovely areas. The Township is older, but has aged very well. I own a home in Broward so sorry, can't help you with Delray. As for Boca, after you leave The Sandalfoot section I believe there's mostly SFH's-- but anything north of generally Palmetto Park Road and 441 is nice. But traffic on 441 is terrible. Good luck!

I'd look in east Deerfield (East of Federal Hwy)......the Cove area will have what you want and you can ride a bike to the beach/bars from there

Are you wanting a 1 bedroom? There are some apartments in Boca near Palmetto Park Road and Powerline. That area is close to 95, turnpike, and not too far from Sawgrass.

Anyone have any opinions regarding 1/1 at the Boca Arbor Club or the Gable Town Colony?

There will be many FAU students living in both.. if you're ok with that.. they aren't spectacular but not bad.
(Unless you have a dog - don't move to Arbor Club if you have a dog.)

If you're not already aware of it... use apartmentratings.com to read apartment reviews.. it's pretty helpful, but be sure to see the dates of what's posted

Update: I just spent the weekend looking at apartments in Delray, Boca, and Coconut Creek. I am torn between the Atlantico at Duscany (in western Delray Beach just east of the turnpike), and a few apartments in Coconut Creek closer to where I would be working. The apartments in Boca I feel are too small for the price in rent, so I've eliminated almost all of those apartments.

I'm still unsure of a clear choice right now, so any other suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks...

Just something to consider - and personally I love the area in Delray you looked at...
That commute to Coconut Creek during season will be horrible.

Did you check out the complex around Hillsboro and 441?
You'd be closer to work, not far from the beach, and other entertainment.

There's a complex in Deerfield Beach in Deer Creek off Hillsboro and Powerline.
It's always been a complex full of 20 somethings.

I haven't been there in a few years... it looked really nice but I seem to remember complaints about the parking.

That would be a great location keeping your commute down and not being far from people your age- bars and all that.
