Yeah - I live downtown, there's plenty to do and it's generally more upscale than most of Florida (mingling with the uber rich on Palm beach in some of their lounges is fun). Lauderdale offers more options overall being a bigger city but is more expensive. Miami has the club scene but that gets real old and unless you've got a lot of money you won't be living on South Beach.

Need to understand what your budget is. I live in one of the best bulding in WPB and pay 1900. A upscale 2brm condo will run you 1500 to 2000. Rents here are relatively cheap because a glut of overbuilding - will probably be that way for the next two years which will be a good time to buy...

If you're planning on living downtown I would research the surrounding areas first. You don't want to live a few blocks down to from one of the sketchier areas (though they are trying to knock those out as the land they are sitting on is worth so much).
