Those numbers are bogus.

Commercial backpack blowers are much louder than lawnmowers.

I simply laugh at the parody the town of Palm Beach has become. Why would anyone want to pay good money to live in such a miserable place? Its like a childcare facility, a military base and a HOA on steroids all rolled into one!

My grass is cut once every 10 days in the winter, the noise from the leaf blower is no worse than the mower/trimmers themselves. So by removing ONE piece of noise making equipment it is suddenly paradise?
I don't get how this even became an issue, its aging population likely has hearing issues anyway so how is this 15 minutes of leaf blowing ruining their day?
If you go to the CD Long Island Board they're usage is a long and lengthy discussion, it is even refereed to as "a First World Problem"; seriously. Maybe they brought that mind set with them...

at 50 ft they are about 65db.........and behind impact glass that is virtually unnoticeable.

Nobody on Palm Beach island is using old equipment, they are making crazy money over there and the equipment gets used year round so it wears out, nothing has a chance to get old!
Hmm must have been banned for no reason then, and your sound measurements are way off.

Wish they would ban them everywhere. Living in Brickell, even living 20, 30 floors up with impact glass, damn things would wake me up, and they would run them forever it seems, all morning some bored people would just be running leaf blowers on the sidewalks, back and forth.

Thankfully I live in a house with some property now, but still hear them from the neighbors, they are louder than lawnmowers and trimmers.
