Never really understood why the Palm Beach Cardinals also play in Jupiter at the Roger Dean Stadium when there is the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches sitting empty 5-6 months of the year?

Is it more efficient regarding cost efficiency or scale? Are there things that haven’t yet been updated that are needed for the Palm Beach park? Is it a disagreement or issue the Cardinals franchise has with City of West Palm despite still going by the name?

Any locals have specific insight? This is always one that has confused me. Also though, Roger Dean in Jupiter prob being the only instance of its kind I would almost certainly assume hosts title of being busiest pro baseball venue in the US, maybe in the world, by volume of events each year. Random enough, it’s (to me) one of the most unassuming parks if not the most so in the Grapefruit League. A new urbanist sorta town look around it, but otherwise a very small town feel, and at the game I did attend there a few years back, it had perhaps the thinnest attendance I had seen at any Florida State League park, almost felt more like a friends and family/little league size crowd.

Palm Beach Cardinals were playing in Roger Dean well before BOPB was built.

Roger Dean is the Spring Training home of the Marlins and the Cardinals.
The PB Cardinals are an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. (The Jupiter Hammerheads are an affiliate of the Miami Marlins)

BOPD is, obviously, the spring training home of the Astros and the Nationals. Their affiliates play elsewhere (Corpus Christi and Rochester, I believe).

Gotcha. It just seems as though moving the Palm Beach side to the new ballpark stadium there would not only allow more space for both teams (can’t imagine two teams sharing a park makes things easier), but that it also would be more lucrative.

Marlins/Cardinals and the Nationals/Astros both share respective parks.

Remember spring training is a month, factor in home/away games and it becomes real easy to schedule 2 teams to a stadium.
