There nice, you are right in the middle of everything though. I looked at one and it was right across from the fountain and that would have been way too loud. I'd look in the Whitney or City Palms. Close to Cityplace but not in Cityplace.

Lots of restaurants nearby. I lived in the Metropolitan (a condo right next to Cityplace) for a year and enjoyed it thoroughly. Nightlife in Cityplace and nearby on Clematis. Swankier clubs and lounges on Palm Beach Island.

West Palm Beach is a much slower city than Ft. Lauderdale, but for the most part, after long workdays, "nightlife" isn't always on the menu.... but Ft. Lauderdale and Miami is always a drive away for serious partying.

One City Plaza is a full service NY style highrise condo building. It's slightly off Cityplace, so it's a bit more difficult to walk to shops and dining. It's quieter, closer to the intracoastal, and nicer though.

Residences have more "life".... younger crowd, closer to walk. Not as nice interiors and finishes, but it still has a pool and workout area.

There lots of nice restaurants, a publix, lots of shopping. Cityplace is an outdoor mall. Nightlife is decent, they have an Improv/Wet Willies, big movie theater, a blues bar is going in where Legal Seafood used to be. If you are in the area check out Clematis on Thursday nights for the block party.
There's like a ten or so high rises in the area to choose from. You can also save money and go to like Portofino on Military, but the nightlife/area aren't nearly as good. It's a new building though with nice large apts.

I work in Cityplace tower - the area is nice and fun if you are into the city life and busy lifestyle in general. When looking at condos beware of maintenance fees that you would pay on a monthly basis (if you are buying a condo). Some buildings are so empty (newer ones esp.) that you got to wonder with fewer than 10% occupied who will take up on the cost of maintaining the building...

There are some areas around Cityplace (further around) that are a bit dicey when it comes to safety but that's South Florida in general. Just something to keep in mind.

How does the safety in City Place compare to say Fort Lauderdale or Boca?

Is the nightlife in CityLife comparable at all to Fort Lauderdale for things to do?

Last quest.. One City Place and the Residences in City Place are actually within the area not outside? Is the beach nearby?

Safety is alright, not the best but not bad. Dicey areas fairly nearby.

Nightlife does not compare to Ft. Lauderdale in my humble opinion. WPB is alright in that respect, there is a very decent selection of restaurants within driving distance. Clematis is fairly nice and alive and is within a trolley (free) ride from Cityplace.

One City Place is the one across from Cityplace tower? If so, it is within walking distance. Don't know about the Residences. Depending on what you accept to be within walking distance, the beach would be if you were unemployed and had a few hours to walk to it and back...

Hope this helps!
