And, for the record, Boca natives tend to be pretty down to earth. Most people I am friends with have been there since the 70s and 80s. In the 90s a lot of value hunter people from less down to earth NE neighborhoods swarmed in as the prices were depressed. Not so any longer. Sigh. . .

Interesting. So far since I have been in Boca everyone I have met has been from somewhere else for most of their life.

Well, yeah, cause they aren't in old Boca, right? Boca West was not populated by people from Boca when they built it. Most people from Boca are east or from the areas on west palmetto pk rd. Places that have been there for a long time. And a lot of people played real estate while it was good and did not hold on to a house to live in. A lot of my Boca friends are moving to North Carolina and LA lately.

Almost all those subdivisions cashing in on the boca resorts reputation were marketed in Long Island, etc. . . None of them were around when I was a little kid so naturally none of y classmates were from those parts of Boca. Well Estancia was there, but that is Boca now since they annexed the town center area

Sorry for the hijack. I am a pirate that way.

There are good deals on the island of pompano beach, it is harder to find them in deerfield, except there is an area just north of hillsboro near the bridge with some inexpensive rentals

Default yes but

are these still alot of boca natives??? that's what i am afraid of..i heard the boca natives ARE the nice ones...it's the ones who have moved in i am afraid of....i myself am originally from the north east, jewish, but as down to earth and non judgemental as they come...scrounged for pennies to do laundry while on disability for a medical problem, did a life's worth of social service work and volunteer work, etc....

you seem like a gem too

I am not a native but do live in Boca and really don't fit in but what can I do.Sometimes I feel like I am in an episode of Seinfeld or some reality show. I have family here that I hate to say fits the negative view people have of some in Boca. I guess I just try to focus on the nice people and not get too upset as I don't like tension with the not so nice. I will say there is a huge difference from when I was here in the winter. It is more calm and kind people. I think as I have a lot of health issues it makes you see the world in a different light and take pleasure in the small things and I wish people who are so blessed with health and being well off would appreciate it more. If you move around the area message me and maybe I can help you or we could meet up one day for coffee.
