Everything I seem to be reading about palm beach county makes me think that we may be a little out of sorts. My husband's company is the in the process of buiding a warehouse around the jupiter area and we are looking at relocating however we make a combined income of about $120 K a year. I was thinking that Palm Beach Gardens seemed like the most appropriate place for us but I'm starting to wonder if we would fit in as it seems that mostly wealthy live in the county. Any thoughts?

LOL, no you'll be fine. The median income is probably less than the national average, if I were to guess. $120k a yr and you'll be doing better than most people in PBC by far.

PBG does have some very high end neighborhoods, but you'll be more than fine with that income. Great area too. According to this site the median income is 70k. Jupiter is another good area.

That's plenty...it may be PBG, but it's still in Florida. Enjoy!

It depends on what neighborhood you are looking to buy in. If you are looking at one of the high end associations such as Frenchmen's Preserve than you will have a problem. However there are many many communities as well as individual homes that you can find in nice, safe neighborhoods.

Look at the Isles, Evergreen, Abacoa and The Oaks if you want HOA's closer to I-95, neighborhoods I would recommend around Holly Drive and Military Trail or any of the neighborhoods off Prosperity Farms Rd. north of PGA to Donald Ross Rd.

If you want close to the beach, consider Juno or any of the neighborhoods along US1 from Donald Ross to Indiantown Rd.

You may also want to consider Tequesta. Drive through the neighborhoods west of US1 and north of Riverside Drive to County Line Rd.

There are so many communities in Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens you should have no problem finding something that will make you happy.

PBC is certainly not "too upscale" for a couple making $120k. PBG and Jupiter are nice and I'm sure incomes are higher than the national average in those areas. But PBC in general, the average income is probably no higher than the national average. PBC is like any other county, nice areas and bad areas.

$120k is a good salary. Live within your means, and you will do fine.

No problems at $120k at all. Most people dont make near that much in PBC. PBC has pockets of wealth, but believe me, it certainly isnt the norm there. I bet the median income in PBC is probably on par with the national average, maybe even lower.

The median family income in Palm Beach County is about $67,000.00, which is higher than the national average.

However, 120k will give you access to a better than average home, in even one of the more affluent suburbs of Jupiter, Boca, etc. $300k is no longer the "starting" point for acceptable homes in the county. It's more like around 200k these days or less, with tons of rental inventory available as well.
