We currently live in Olympia and have an option to either move now or re-up our lease for another 2 years. We're overpaying a bit for our rent so I'm on the fence as to whether to stay - my concern really is how long we have to be residents in a school zone in order to send my son to elementary school. Can you literally move to the area, and then send the child to public school a month later or do you have to show residency over a longer period of time?

We've heard great things about Wellington public schools (although the one right outside Olympia, Elemerald Cove, is an absolute nightmare to drive to in the morning) but wonderful things about Boca public schools too.
My husband also wants to get our son involved in lacrosse at an early age - why I don't know since I don't see the allure of the sport - but so be it.

We like Wellington a lot and we've had the chance over the past year to really explore it. If we live here another 2 years and then suddenly move to Boca just for the schools, we'll really have no idea what the residential areas are truly like (there are so many communities to choose from in Boca), so I'm wondering if we should just move now. Any insight/comparisons between Wellington public schools and Boca public schools would be helpful!

hello,
I can tell you u can move anytime of the year as long as you have a lease agreement in the school district you want your child to attend its no problem..We moved from West Boca to Central Boca both kids started new schools in january with no problem as long as we had residency proof...WE love living here and are very happy with the Boca Schools...We have a 4th grader and a 9th Grader and they both love their schools as well...My son's HS has one of the best lacross teams they made it to Districts....Their tennis team just made it to States...I know u have a long time for that but Lacross is a big sport here...I can tell you before we knew where dh was going to work we were looking in Wellington, Weston and Boca and Boca won...

good luck on whatever your decision is...I will tell you, u will be paying less in Olympia than you will here Boca...I dont think you will get what u are living here either it will be much smaller and a bit older...
