I am a Southern Belle, and I have nothing against hillbillies. I have some very recent ancestory that is hillbilly. I think they are good people who get mischaracterized. But I hear from time to time, even from people who mean well, that there really are parts of the hills of WV that are creepy.

Has anybody had creepy experiences? Or heard creepy stories? If so, please explain!

I was in Cleveland Oh the other day (I was actually born in Cleveland) and I passed an ugly guy with a mini skirt and high heels on. Now that was creepy.

You, maam , just might be a troll. If not, I apologize. Notice you are from Virginia (me too) Make a trip to Parrot, VA, or maybe the "suburbs" of Grundy, VA and let me know if you see any "scary" people. But the question is, are they southerners, or are they hillbillies? Who knows? They don't know themselves, but I can tell you this, Parrot and Grundy are like "Wrong Turn", and it ain't even West By God. To your question, yes there are some scary places/people in some of the dirt roads way back in the hills - I can recall some places back in Lincoln and Boone Co. that even gave this Hillbilly the creeps. But even with that, I feel safer there than in most larger cities walking at night.

Yes, you do owe me an apology. How am I a troll? Your assumption doesn't even make sense. Tell me what I did wrong. Why are the people on the West Virginia forum so touchy about things. I was as polite as I could possibly be. I am just asking a question. Yes, I am currently living in Southeastern Virginia but plan to move back home to Alabama.

I am still a little ruffled as to why you think I am a troll and I would like an explanation please.

Stereotypes are a sensitive and emotional topic and need to be approached with an appropriate degree of caution and respect. Trolls use topics like this one to anger everyone, and they usually manage to do it without much effort.
I'm re-opening the thread, but I'd like everyone to remain respectful and think about what you post.
Yac.

Your question could be considered rude for one thing. Why would you assume just because people live in the mountains of West Virginia they might be creepy? Do you like it when people ask you if everyone from Alabama is a redneck? I know I don't; I'm from Alabama too, and we get more than our share of stereotypes. Therefore, we shouldn't help perpetuate stereotypes about other areas of the country.
