Hi,
I personally never went for Potomac area and even I heard about it for the very first time, from you. But I have searched about it on google and find things related to tourism and travel.
After reading and seeing all that stuff I can say Its a good deal to have a vacation over there, But I think just taking my review is not enough you should take the suggestion from some person that have some vacation experience of the area

I live in SKI HEAVEN! The area is called Canaan Valley, WV. The nearest town (7 Miles away) is Davis, WV. Our elevation is around 2,600 feet. We have two world class ski resorts within five miles of one another. The downside? If you need to go to a REAL retailer (Walmart, Kmart, Sears, etc.) You will need to travel about 45 minutes in either direction to find one. As far as "Nationally Known" chains and the such, all there is within 40 miles is a Subway Restaurant and a BFS Foods gas station/convenience store.
The homes within Canaan Valley and the surrounding areas range from simple one bedroom farm houses and large cattle ranches, to gated communities containing beautiful mansion-like homes of all sizes. You can definitely find what you are looking for as far as real estate goes.

The people in this area are amazing. The social lifestyle is fairly laid back; kind of like something out of a Lifetime Mini-Series! On the other hand, keep in mind the fact that it's a small, small, small town atmosphere so your reputation and integrity means everything if you follow me. It isn't that folks are quick to judge, on the contrary, it's more of a you do your thing and it's okay with us kind of deal. But when it comes to having an argument or a bad deal with someone, well, word travels fast! Especially if its something juicy! But other than this flaw, which you have in ANY small town, I LOVE it here.
I am a country singer/performer/songwriter and I used to travel here from my home town about 100 miles away. After six or seven trips to the area to perform I was hooked. I packed up my family and moved here and we have NEVER been happier and that's the God's truth!
I honestly think that I will most likely be buried here in this valley when my time comes. It's the closest place to Heaven that I've seen, so why not? Good luck to you and may God bless you and your family.

I use to live near here and have never heard of it, but I know the area. In my opinion you should check out the area willienillie is talking about fort ashby, wv isn't really a vacation type town. I would take a drive through probably would find an almost heaven within 100 mile of this place for a better price.
