Been here for a month or so and am unsure of the local nightlife scene. Besides the casino and the nudie bars scattered around the area, I don't know what bars/clubs are out here for people in their 20's or 30's. I have some friends coming to town soon and want to show them a good time but I am not sure where to go. Would prefer to keep it nearby and not make the hike to Frederick, Winchester, or Hagerstown. Any ideas?

It's a bit farther than you'd like, but Cancun Cantina (West) in Hagerstown is awesome if you like country music.

Ahhhh ..... seven days and only two responses. I'd say that people don't move to Charles Town for the night life!!

Yeah, I didn't think there would be many recommendations. I will definately check out Shepherdstown. It can't be too bad with a college nearby. I've driven past a few bars in Ranson, Longshots, Taphouse at the bowling Alley, and the Rainbow down Route 9...didn't know if anything was worth stopping by. Every town has to have at least one decent watering hole.

Uhmmmm There is nothing in Charles Town or surrounding areas other than Hagerstown, Md or Winchester Va. I agree that Cancun Cantina is your best bet!

When is the casino opening their new bar? I thought it was suppose to be some sort of sports bar with entertainment.

If you're interested in a sports type watering hole, I could suggest Buffalo Wild Wings, altho it's in Martinsburg, not Charles Town or Shepherdstown but it's not really that far down the road.

I'd say the only nightlife style clubs in Charles Town would be the Tap House ... however it is kind of sketchy after 10pm. Someone got shot at the Tap House a few weeks ago and I've heard rumors of the staff "take advantage of" aka "mug" very drunk patrons (it's bad enough they let people get so wasted they can't walk, but then to just throw them outside, watch them fall, and take their cigarettes when pulling them up to their feet is just awful!). Also, someone caught a perv hanging out in the men's room there as well.
The atmosphere is very hip, and I've hung out there, and it isn't bad during dinner hours. But once it gets late in the evening, there is no way I'd stick around.
