10 years ago I wouldn't have wanted to live in Charleston either but that's not the case now. The Clay Center and Power Park are just two attractions any city should be proud to have.
A nice river front. A short day drive to the mountains. Pretty close to right in the middle of skiing in Beckley or Canaan.
The vast majority of top name acts that come to WV come there. Affordable. I think it's great how they have revived the "downtown" shopping.

your so right,
plus we have the Capitol Market, Culture Center, and Village District
After lived for 2 years in Canaan Valley, I don't think Charleston can hold a candle. Plus I didn't want to do that work. So if I had to take that job and be miserable, I didn't want to be miserable where I lived too.
So basically you just posted to insult people from Charleston?
She never insulted anyone from Charleston. She just said she wouldnt want to live there. I feel the same way. I have some good friends from Charleston, but would never want to live there. It is a normal thing and not limited to Charleston. Look at NYC some people love it and some people hate it.
Grew up in NYC, you could not pay me to live there even one more day. I hate to even go back to visit family. Some like it, more power to them. Not sure what they like about it but hey, not my problem. I lived in a nice neighborhood too, cannot imagine living in the bad parts of the city.
I think that she had posted in the past that she was going to be moving to Charleston, and was just letting us know that she isn't now. I also think this person perfers really rural and beautiful landscapes, and was saying that Canaan Valley was better than Charleston. Not because of the city itself, but by her preferences.
I really posted this in hopes that Snorpus, David Kennedy, and GHO would read it and be heartbroken and follow me to Alaska. But alas... *sniffle*
But I never said anything about people from Charleston. Never once did I say anything about people at all. But people (as a whole, not just people from Charleston) are my general motivation for not living in big cities. Doesn't really do it for me.
