The issue is how Morgantown is underfunded.

For the 100th time Bailey money to WVU not equal to Morgantown funding.
Really? Do you think I need links and numbers explained to me that I researched and found and have read but which you have not? And for the 100th time, please, link to where any of this funding was "debunked" and please provide a link to these other numbers that prove your point.

Oh, that's right, you've never provided a link to anything and just like to throw your opinion around like fact.

And CT, do you have a link for this billion dollars, or I guess it's doubled now to $2 billion, in funding to Charleston or was it just pulled out of the air?

From the start of this conversation, people have asked for links for numbers you all are using. We've seen links for economic development numbers, infrastrucure numbers and higher ed numbers but nothing matches what you all are saying. I'll ask again, links please?

Anyone else see the irony that these folks are complaining that money isn't spread out enough but yet, they want it all (or at least the majority of it) focused on their area so they can "lead us"? Sounds counter productive and a bit lke a double standard to me.

Bailey we have been through this a million times. Those numbers are already bunk. The fact that the federal government, and the state to a lesser extent, gave some money to WVU and even less to Morgantown doesnt prove that Morgantown is not underfunded. Morgantown doesnt get infrastructure funding from Charleston. Charleston and Huntington get it.

Why do people in the Charleston-Huntington area have attitude of entitlement when it comes to themselves, but are stingy as hell once you leave the Ohio river valley? I like CT's explanation. It would explain why they are so loyal to each other in that small area of WV, but view the rest of the state, especially Morgantown as an enemy.

Got a link to back up anything you just said? Nope? Not surprising.

Because you cited some statistics out of context. You are right you did have some numbers, but they dont back up the point you are trying to make. CT already explained that. I suggest you re-read what he wrote earlier.

Bailey you are not an easy person to get along with. I try to have a friendly and constructive discussion with you, but you always get so upset and defensive. I am your friend and not your enemy.

The state government budget is somewhere around $4 billion. It's safe to say that $2 billion of that is spend propping up the bureaucracy in Charleston. But you mentioned the Mon Fayette "stimulus" money as money the state gave to Monongalia. I disagree with that assessment, but if you are right they spend a lot more stimulus money in Kanawha.

Here is a breakdown of how the stimulus money was spent in West Virginia:

These are some statistics about how the State apportioned its share of the "stimulus" money. In spite of the completion of the Mon Fayette Expressway, Kanawha County got almost 8 times as much of the federal funding as did Mon County. Cabell got the shaft from Charleston too...

Do you have a link for your info rather than just copy and paste? According to the state stimulus site, the total amount awarded to the state from stimulus funds was $1,682,000,000. From your link, you are claiming that Kanawha County got $1,580,336,512 of that? Here's the link from the state:

I don't have a link... that info was given me by somebody else, but I believe there was more than one injection of stimulus funding. My point is Kanawha gets way more than any other county, or even any 8 counties.

WVDOT Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (http://www.transportation.wv.gov/highways/programplanning/STIP/stipfiles/Pages/default.aspx - broken link)

Appendix A on this page lists the road plan by county for the next 5 years including projects and total dollar amounts. It's quite a large file and takes some time to navigate through because of this. I think Mon County is on page 26, if I remember correctly.
