No, I liked the "Welcome Home to the Mountain State" idea. You started it bud, you came into a WV forum and started crap. What are were thinking?! Seriously

I like it myself, the first time I voted for the Wild and wonderful because that is what I grew up with but the second time around I voted for the Mountain State.
Trying to decide on that one..'wild and wonderful'..i understand the wonderful part not sure what the wild is referring too..Yes we do have the white water rafting but soooo much more........
I know many don't like the saying ''almost heaven'' i do..The one that sticks with me is ''HOME""..ok ok not a Toursist sign.. 'Open for business' was just so begging..
Yes, but what exactly is a "Certified Business Location"?
Been in many states and live in Georgia, but don't see that anywhere.
Does this mean if your not "certified" you cannot open a business
We have always laughed about the sign. Ole West By God's perfect timing.
They became a sight on the highway in Berkeley around the same time Corning, Martin Marrietta, DuPont, etc. etc. began shutting their doors
Quote:
Recognition as a Certified Development Community includes the placement of special highway signs at the county's borders that identify the area as being well suited for consideration by prospective businesses. The county also receives preference by the West Virginia Development Office for sites and buildings in the office's statewide catalog of available properties.
It's a program offered through the West Virginia Development Organization. That 'sign' helped Berkeley County land employers such as Quad Graphics, Quebecor, Aker plastics, Orgill... With the overall decrease in manufacturing base jobs in WV (and across the nation) this program assists communities in attracting other major employers. Berkeley County has another location getting started on Tabler Station Rd. They are in the process of obtaining funding for a short bypass/access road near the newly expanded 167th airbase (which is now home to the C5 Galaxy)..
It's not a bad program offered by the WVDO, actually.
