Ok, sorry this is not as much fun as the fave restaurant thread. But I need to put my shoe before my horse, as they say. Can't be eating out if I don't have a place to keep my cash. (All $2 of it LOL!)

Relocating up there means switching from the CU I've had for over 20 yrs. - but no branches in the area. No Wells Fargo up there either, so I hear.

Any suggestions? Bad experiences? Good experiences?

Nearest are in Winchester VA or Hagerstown MD How often do you need to go to the bank?

You could keep doing your main banking with Fargo...maybe open a small emergancy account in Martinsburg but heck I dont think make much difference! ATMs are ALL over Martinsburg.

Thanks Katie, I guess I'll figure this out when I get up there. I visited a local bank to get pre-qual for a mortgage so I'll maybe look into using them for everything.

Thought you were paying Cash for a home...no Morgage! Anyway I think you could do that thru Well Fargo even without a branch in Martinsburg.

City National Bank isn't a bad option, it's where I do all of my banking and have never had a problem with them.

I would endorse City NB, I had an account there until I moved in Virginia. Stay away from BB&T though, it's a big bank FULL of fees. I closed my account because they had so many hoops for me to jump through to keep my account free.

I have to take care of this next week when I get up there permanently, so thank you so much - all of you - for this feedback. We are pre-qual'd for a mortgage with Bank of Charles Town and thought I'd maybe use them, but I'll check out City NB also. I need a biz account so will have to see who is best. I'll be switching from a credit union where we've been for over 25 years, and there are really no fees with them, so this is going to be interesting.

By the way, your screen name makes me laugh! Speaking of coffee, where up there do you go for coffee and communing with friends, since there are no Starbucks? I went to the Daily Grind and was miffed at them for requiring a fee to use their internet on my laptop. I hear they are in jeopardy of going under, which may pave the way for Starbucks. Not that I'm "all about" Starbucks, I just enjoy going there once in a while and right now since I've been traveling around up there looking at houses, etc. I am always on the look out for free internet. The only place I've found is the BK in Hedgesville, but I imagine there are others. Any suggestions?

The wifi at the Daily Grind is free with a purchase. You just need to ask for the code after you order.

There is a Starbucks in the Target, and the Jamaica Cafe offers free wifi to its customers.

edited to add: there is a coffee bar at Martins and the store offers free wifi.

I live in Virginia now, so I can't speak for Martinsburg coffee. My picks are all in Arlington County, which are great places but a bit of a drive for you.

Daily Grind in your area is a great choice!
