I am going to the York Pa area in a week to two, and my usual route is from Chattanogga TN, and thru Va. I would like to change my route and see more of WV this time. I am in Louisiana. Any suggestions.

I haven't driven the whole 219 thru West Virginia and Maryland but I have driven in Pocahontas Co WV and Garrett Co MD and to me, it's very scenic. The parts I drove on were 2 lane blacktop so the speed limit is 55 so it will take longer than driving the bigger roads.

Everybody has their favorite section of WV... Mary Ann and I happen to agree. One possible route would be I-81 from Chattanooga to Wytheville, VA, then north on I-77 to Princeton WV, then US-219 north from Princeton through such towns/small cities as Lewisburg, Marlinton, Elkins, and north into Maryland, where you could pick up I-68. You could then take I-68 east until you pick up I-81 again, or you could jog north a bit and take the PA Turnpike east and hit I-81 around Harrisburg.

Another routing would be further to the west, following I-77 to Beckley, then US-119 north to I-79, then I-68/I-70 back to the east and I-81.

Let us know what route you pick, and we can fill you in on sights to see, places to stop, where to eat, what not to miss, etc.
