There was someone on this forum a few months ago who was moving to Davis, my opinions are as a visitor.

Nice small town, adjacent to Blackwater Falls State Park. Grocery store plus several restaurants, a few small shops. There appear to be a number of well-maintained houses "up the hill" from the main part of town.

Summer temps probably run 75-85 most of the time, seldom will get into the upper 80s or 90s. In the winter, it's the snowfall capital of West Virginia. Over 120" in a typical season, that's why the Canaan Valley and Timberline ski resorts are just down the road.

Several of us in this forum consider the area to be one of the best in the state, provided you're not looking for the bright lights and big city scene.

Small town life... Everything is centered around tourism. Peaceful and laid back generally. You have to travel to Elkins for any shopping though, I think Davis has a grocery store or two and maybe some sort of dollar store.
