I read good things about Morgantown/Fairmont/Charleston but I would love the opinions of local residents.

I would be grateful if you could pick a place for me to start looking along with a reason why.

Thanks,

There are Asians in West Virginia, and Blacks, and Latinos, etc. If you run into problems, it is probably more about your misconceptions and inability to learn the culture there (looking down your nose at people, etc.) than it is your actual race. I'm Black and I never had any problems, but my in-laws were there (though not always around at the moment). Experiences may vary.

I am originally from Pittsburgh-moved to West Virginia in 1988. Choose Fairmont and have stayed all that time. Fairmont is a nice, small city. I highly recommend it. As others have said, there isn't much going on in Fairmont but its location between Morgantown and Clarksburg is ideal. Personally, I don't care for Morgantown. Too crowded and too many students. I work and shop in Morgantown but go home to Fairmont.
