All,

I thought I'd share that Shepherdstown, WV is in contention for Budget Travel's "American Coolest Small Town 2013" Contest.

As a resident of this little hamlet, I am bursting with pride for our little town. I hope we win, but we're against strong competition.

Here is the link to the page, so you can watch the voting unfold: America's Coolest Small Towns 2013 | Travel Deals, Travel Tips, Vacation Ideas | Budget Travel

Fingers crossed!

The vote is rigged. Lewisburg won it a while back due to phone banks of locals stuffing the ballot box. Travelers took the win seriously and booked trips to the town and were very disappointed and accused the town of fraud.

If they win that will be the 3rd WV town to win in the last decade.

Lewisburg is a neat little town. I was down that way this past fall for some picture taking. Very picturesque and historical. I think being close to the Greenbrier is what makes it seem more upscale than it is. It does have a nice little restaurant in town called Food and Friends.

It is an upscale town. It is very expensive to live in the town proper. The people who live nearby may not all be wealthy but the people in Lewisburg are.

You may be right. Some very nice houses and farmland.
