FCC program expanding broadband in rural W.Va.
10:17 AM ET, 12/06/2013 - Associated Press
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Broadband service is being expanded to about 36,000 homes and businesses in rural West Virginia.
The Federal Communications Commission announced Thursday that its Connect America Fund has earmarked $22 million for West Virginia. Frontier Communications will use the funds in rural portions of its service areas, connecting more than 87,000 people who lack service.
The Connect America Fund is part of the FCC's initiative to bring broadband access to rural communities. Nationwide, the FCC authorized nearly $260 million to connect almost 1 million rural Americans who now lack service.
Got this from a news feed so there probably is more detail/info out there, but I'm in a rush today.
Hopefully they do a better (smarter) job than the last attempt at broadband reported here. Remember that one? Overkill on the equipment, then nothing in the budget for training or maintenance.

I'm pretty sure that was botched at the state government level.
