blackwater state park is in tucker county, wv. not far from canaan valley state park, and north of elkins by a few miles.

coopers rock state park is pretty sweet, as is cacapon state park in berkeley springs.

also liked pipestem and hawks nest.

i grew up within a mile or so of tomlinson run state park in hancock county. it's pretty nice also ... but i guess that it was just too close for me to get excited about.

The only one I've been to so far is Audra State Park- and I loved it. But I definitely plan on checking out blackwater falls next!

In WV, we can still connect to our mother Earth. Seneca Rocks, Blackwater Canyon...the sods...it reminds us
that we are a part of this invincible land...

I am looking forward to camping again in the great parks of WV. My brother is also looking forward to us getting together again & doing some camping. The problem with that is... his idea of camping is in his $100K Motor Coach and I'm talking about real camping... a tent, sleeping bags, open campfire, sleeping under the stars, crickets... the whole ball of wax! He prefers color TV and A/C. Sorry big brother, that just ain't camping!

ever hear of Ice Mountain in Hampshire County? There are natural fissures in the talus slope that traps ice and in the summer the vents release cool air even on the hottest days.

You can go hiking then relax with mother natures own version of air conditioning.
