As noted here before, Morgantown with its numerous #1 party school ranking, high percentage of underage and public intoxications, meth usage and methamphetamine treatment centers, maurijauna usage, penchant for arson and riotous behavior in regard to throwing batteries and burning of couches has recently had its playgrounds and schools turned into drug selling zones since 2010. Federal Authorities had to intercede in the selling of cocaine and heroin, which thankfully brought the arrest of numerous individuals.

Who knows how many children purchased dangerously potent drugs on several playgrounds and several school zones? Since the investigation began in 2010, that's 3 years of cocaine and heroin that went sold uninterrupted to children and students from elementary alway to WVU. Why did it take so long for this investigation to take place? Was it the ineptitude of City police? We can always take the high amounts of alcohol and pot smoked, that's always a given when it comes to WVU's nationally renowned party school reputation. But when it comes to the hard drugs like meth, cocaine and heroin being sold on school and playgrounds that it becomes a issue for the community. With 36.4% of Morgantown living below the poverty level, 1 out of 3 people are struggling, which in turn leads to the selling of drugs, drug and alcohol usage, and destructive behavior. Hopefully this bust is a turning point that leads to more of the meth labs, dope peddlers and other issues that plague Morgantown being eradicated.

The drug epidemic is coming up from southern WV but luckily here the police can stop it so it doesn't become like Mercer and McDowell.

I'm sure the drugs are also coming from Pittsburgh, D.C. etc. The majority of drug abuse in the southern part of WV is from prescription pills and meth, not as much about cocaine and heroin.

In most cases, the supply of drugs to smaller cities and communities doesn't come from just one location.

Also, if this drug bust went after the street pushers and runners mainly, then the drug problem will still exist because the main suppliers are still in place. The article doesn't mention anything about the feds going after the higher level drug people.

This is so not true. The drugs here in NCWV typically come from Pittsburgh or even Baltimore. A few years ago, a guy from Morgantown got busted with almost half a million dollars in heroin from Baltimore. It was Fayette Co. PA officials that busted him, the largest bust in Fayette Co. history. The sad part in all this is, as pointed out, where are the local police in all of this? Why is it the Feds and other agencies doing that job?

I knew that guy. Went to HS with him. It wasn't half a million dollars. That is what the police labeled it as but it was much less.

Drug problems in southern WV are much worse. It isnt even comparable.

Morgantown fosters reckless behavior with its party reputation and all the alcohol, parties, pot, meth, and party type atmosphere. City leaders and police turn a blind eye, only writing underage/DUI/alcohol citations to fill the city coffers with fines and court cost. A lot of students come to WVU just to party, and the locals are ready to feed their drug needs, not including what is brought in from those students. WVU leaders say that don't want the party rep, but they know it brings recognition and notoriety, just as its athletic teams do.

Comparing drug problems with SWV is not even close, with Morgantown's large population, that's more of a market for drug sales and usage. Apparently the market is so crowded they've turned to schools, playgrounds to peddle their dope.

Yes, it isnt fair to compare Morgantown to SWV as SWV is overran by drugs and law enforcement has given up. SWV is now a drug wasteland with the highest rates of hepatitis and overdoses from sharing drugs. Literally SWV is among the worst areas in the country for drug use and it is insulting to 99.9% of the country to be compared to it, including Morgantown.

Denial is the worst drug of all, apathy is second.

When will you and Morgantown stop denying the truth, but it looks like its too late.

Yes, denial is terrible.

You need to stop denying that SWV is ground zero for drug abuse in WV. Hepatitis is spreading like the plague and it has a drug overdose rate 20x the national average, the worst in the country. it is #1 in narcotic use and meth labs are spouting up there like weeds.

Morgantown doesnt deny the truth that SWV needs help. You wont let us help you.
