An Associated Press review of federal records found that 178 West Virginia bridges have been designated "fracture critical" — they don't have redundant protections and are at risk of collapse if a single, vital component fails — and "structurally deficient" — in need of rehabilitation or replacement because at least one major component of the span has advanced deterioration or other problems.
I also found this interesting. Kind of goes against the constant claim of disproportionate funding for roads some on here claim on an almost daily basis.

Among the state's 10 highway districts, bridges that are both structurally deficient and fracture critical were more likely to be found in the southern part of the state,

I'm willing to vet they aren't in Charleston or Huntington. Outside of those areas everything is neglected.
LOL, I thought you mean real bridges and not tiny ones. Those in Huntington barely qualify as a bridge. I wonder how many of those 'bridges' in southern WV is just a tiny bridge that goes over a small stream.

Yeah because municipal bridges are known for being large, massive spans. Plus, did you miss the I-64 bridge on the list? That's not a major span at all.
The unbelievably stupid thing in my view is the fact that our Government has billions in foreign aid to throw at Egypt, Isreal, and other middle eastern countries while they can not even affort to maintain our infrastructure here, and are putting our grandchildren in debt for virtually everything they are doing.
When you consider the condition of bridges and the federal storm water mandates, it is a shame. They gave Egypt billions for their sewer systems but American Municipalities get no financial support for federal storm water mandates.
Here's an idea, let's build up foreign country's infrastructure, and let our own country deteriorate.
Which is precisely what the morons are doing. They are building new roads in Afghanistan and Tel Aviv while they let ours deteriorate. They top that off by making our grandchildren foot the bill for the foreign roads.
