Just wondering where would be the best place to live to commute to DC in Huntington, if I moved there with my dog. I'm hoping to find a house for rent with a fenced yard for a very reasonable price.

Thanks, all.

just a guess...closer to DC than Huntington? You do realize you are talking about a 400 mile commute? That's nuts if you intend to do that 5 days a week.

I drove into DC from the West 60 miles out starting at 5:30 AM to beat the rush hour. Homes in Western Loudoun Co to rent. Maybe the W. Va. pan handle. Closer in. Try to live near the RR or metro for easier commuting. There are homes in VA and MD to rent 1st or second floors but a whole house, good luck with that. Anything in the District isn't "reasonable."

Although this started out in the Huntington sub-forum, that's not he place to learn about commuting to DC. I'm moving the thread out to the main WV forum where people living in the eastern panhandle will see it.

I'm confused, where does Huntington come into the picture? Are you referring to Huntington, WV or another Huntington? Once I have clarification, I can definitely help you out a little further.

Your commute to DC will be longer from Huntington. I think it's about 6 to 8 hours drive there. I would look at the towns on the eastern panhandle of the state like Martinsburg.

We live in Falling Waters, so we have the option of the MTA commuter bus in Hagerstown and the MARC train in Martinsburg. 20 minutes to either.

For those of us not in the DC area who don't know, I'm assuming the OP mean the Huntington area of Virginia, next to Alexandria.

I'm going to assume you are right and close the thread. If the thread originator ever shows up and wants it reopened, he can send me (or any other Mod) a Direct Message and ask to have it reopened. Referring to a commute from Huntington WV has confused several people.
