I agree with you. I used to be a owner/operator with a Canadian based expedite freight company. About 80 percent of my loads went to the States, and I was well aware of that particular section of road.
Here in Ontario, traffic conviction fines go to the Province, not any one municipality, so there is no incentive to have a "speed trap". And usually there is a un-official threshold, above which a ticket will be issued. That is usually about 10 miles over the posted limit.
On the other hand, we really, really, come down hard on speeders that exceed the limit by a wide margin. The law in Ontario goes like this........If you are tracked driving more than 30 mph OVER the posted limit( regardless of what the posted speed limit is ) you are going to have the vehicle impounded right there, your DL is suspended for 7 days, right there, and the MINIMUM fine after a court conviction is FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Try getting insurance after being convicted of that offence......

Yeah, I've heard that your speed limits are ridiculously low too. Anyway, be careful on US 19 anywhere near Summersville and Fayetteville.
