Looking for rural real eastate in West Virginia with acreage 35 to 70 acres would be great but will consider a little less or even more. Looking for large older home with no carpeting and some fencing in place. Trees and vegetaion established. Good water. Off main roads Ok as long as there is access. Out buildings and guest house would be ideal. Looking for reasonable price range. Any information appreciated
From the research I've done in similar quest, you are likely better off finding the land first and building new. Landandfarm.com has plenty listed. Otherwise, those older homes require lots of work, like removing old carpeting.
Look to areas near operating coal mines. The properties near active coal mines tend to be lower all around than anywhere else. Not a good plan if you have a respiratory problem. Think along the lines of Iager, War, Welch, Kimball, Keystone. Generally, the properties are listed only with a sign on the house or in the yard and not with an agent. There are bargains to be found, but count on doing a lot of renovating to the house.
