Hi all. Not sure if anyone will see this, since this post is about a year and a half old. We are considering a move to the Charles Town area. Never been there before but it seems like a nice place to live overall. One big question I have, though, is WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE in Charles Town? Mainly winter in regards to driving/accidents/safety of getting around by car? Are there a lot of slippery, horrid snowy days, and a lot of icy roads? We're from the midwest...lots of snow and not fun driving in it, but icy roads can be even worse for driving many times.
If we move, we'd try to find a place to live close the casino, since that wold be my husband's employer (table games department).
Charles Town, like much of the area, probably has more ice storms than snow storms. However, a lot of people in the area commute to the D.C. region, so those roads are usually well cared for in the event of an ice or snow storm.

Any comments/help would be greatly appreciated!
Weather out here is fine. Doesn't get horribly hot, or horribly cold, no earthquakes, no tornadoes, no big floods, etc.
Occasionally we'll get some snow/ice, but it's not generally very notable. I think I remember reading that we get around 24" of snow over a typical winter. That's usually a 3"er here and a 5"er there, though a few years ago IIRC we got like 2' (yes, feet) of snow all at once, that was astonishing.
So yes, there will be a few snowy/icy days most winters, but nowhere near "lots".
We do get ice storms but not many, and we have had one recently that hit around dawn. My husband who works graveyard shift spent about 30 min just trying to remove the ice from his vehicle. He found the main roads to be relatively passable as some kind of cinder material had been laid down. If would be best if you could find a home within walking distance to the Casino.
You say you are used to snow but you should be aware that the local highway dept is not known for having very good or prompt road service in the event of a winter storm. This may not be the case where you currently reside in the Midwest where the highway dept may be better funded and can handle these situations more efficiently.
Just for fun, this article made front page news in a local newspaper today:
While this amount of snowfall is not a yearly event, it does happen here. The previous year (2015) was quite heavy as well, but the 2 years before that were relatively mild, as this year has been thus far. Thats the extent of my personal experience.
But you asked about ice and I'd have say its not very often, but it does happen. Best of luck!
