Mike Thompson, Berkeley County planning director, said the plan proposes five lots of land that would include a hotel, a convenience store, two fast food restaurants and one other restaurant.
BTR Capital Group, based out of Towson, Maryland, is leading the proposal, and Thompson said the cost of the potential project is still unknown due to its early stage of the plan.
is there any news on this development. I would think they would be trying to get this moving along. Is there any other development anyone has heard of for this exit and area of the county.
The brochure shows a Rutter's as being the convenience store tenant. They are a Pennsylvania chain similar to Sheetz and AC&T.
This will be Rutter's first location in West Virginia...awesome! I'd love to see Bojangles' enter the eastern panhandle. They've recently expanded throughout NoVa. so it's a possibility.

Especially in this development. There are two fast food pads.
The new Rutter's convenience store is scheduled to open later this month near the Tabler Station exit (Exit 8) off I-81. According to the Herald-Mail, "the more than 9,000-square-foot store will offer 14 auto fueling pumps and seven truck diesel lanes and employ 40 to 50 people." A hotel and restaurants are also planned for the remaining property next to the Rutter's store.
Rutter's has been on a massive expansion drive in Southern PA. I'm kind of surprised they're not building in or around Hagerstown.
