I'm spinning through Southwest WV and Southeast KY this weekend and would love to get to a bakery that sells great pepperoni bread or rolls in that area. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

In WV please don’t refer to it as pepperoni bread. I think that’s just an eastern KY thing. Folks in WV take their pepperoni rolls seriously.

I second River and Rail if in Huntington. I also love the pepperoni rolls at Big Loafer in the Huntington Mall. A nice combination of pepperoni and provolone cheese.

What is the breading/roll like (more pizza dough or sweet dough)? My favorite type by far are the ones that use a sweet dough for the roll and either use ground pepperoni or sliced pepperoni or a mixture of the two.

I’ve only had River and Rail once and although I remember it was very good, I can’t remember how sweet the bread was. I usually go for the pastries when I’m there.

I’ve had Big Loafer who knows how many times though and it’s more of sweet roll with sliced pepperoni and provolone. Very dense and sooo good.

I love the WV Dogs at Frostop the best. I like Stewart’s Chili Cheese dogs the best overall though.
