I left my tree up until just recently. I decorated it green and white (my Alma Mater colors), and so after Christmas, it became the St. Patricks Day tree!
It seems like everyone's STILL confused on this issue. There are two types stars in this thread: The big tin/aluminum/wooden/painted ones that someone nails on their facade to pretty it up (doo-dads is right!), and the bolts that hold your house together. They have nothing to do with each other. Unless, of course, you tack a big star to your old brick house...
I thought nothing more of the stars other than decorative doo-dads until I saw the trees I talked about. Just seemed like a strange coincidence that 99% of the homes with stars had the trees and not a single home without the star had a tree.
