I grew up in the eastern panhandle-- in Mineral County. People are pretty nice there, but kind of stuck up because of being so near to Maryland and D.C. I lived there most of my life. For the past 6 years I've been living in Huntington, WV (Cabell County) and let me tell you, there are some of the nicest people down there. True southern WV'ens who LOVE to talk your ear off about this beautiful state.

I say, visit the southern part of the state-- the north is all about trying to act like they are from PA or Maryland. (NOT ALL... I just say this b/c my entire family is up in the northern part... just going on how their communities are )

WV is so beautiful.. there are some real gems as far as parks and nature trails go.

Less dukes of hazzard? Kidding, right? They drive ATVs on the roads! It's highly entertaining to read a local's perception of this area. If all the changes in the past 30 years had occurred in one year, it would be a stretch to apply the label 'drastic'.

But then again, if the city adds one traffic light, there is a festive atmosphere to the installation and the inter-mountain prints a color front page pic of the memorial event. I believe the next city celebration is painting lines on the streets!
