This town of 1500 is right on a river -not too far from Charleston.

Does anyone know anything about it?

JohnNada is right. You'd be better looking elsewhere in the state.

Be better off looking 30 miles north or west of Charleston. If you are looking to relocate to the area outside of Charleston. Plenty of thriving communities in a 30-40 mile radius. Just do your homework.

What piqued my interest is they are selling an old huge school there for less than $200k. It looka to have a view of the river - haa a nice gym and old architecture. A penthouse on the top might be cool and let others use the rest when they like. It may be way too big and need too many repairs--just a thought-dream.

I seen that the other day and thought of a Nerd B&B, Rent it out as rooms and convention space for nerdy conventions then I only have to go down stairs to find new nerds. But how many nerds are in that part of the state and it is 60,000 sq feet and some pictures show mold growing under the paint, it needs a lot of upkeep that is why the church is selling it

Ok that’s a nice big building. The first thought that comes to my mind is asbestos.

For what you’d have to put into it unless you are getting some type of federal reno grant I’m not sure you’d ever see a return on investment. I’d be scared of unforeseen costs as well. You never know what you’re getting into with something like that.

If you have a lot more than $200k then it is doable. A friend of mine bought a big old hardware store with the thinking of doing the same. The costs can quickly get away from you. 50K for a new roof. I imagine for a school you are looking at even more.
