Simple I was In the Military during the last Shutdown didn't get paid.... Only Officers got pay!

So Been there didn't even get the t-shirt...

So why can't the average citizen volunteer to go out and pick up the garbage?

I used to be able to drive cars without seatbelts until the law changed but, I don't go around telling people it's OK to drive without them. Times change.


The military is being paid, those stationed in the US are mostly on bases, in positions that are not affecting national security immediately. They could collect trash and still train.

Where do you live where the Trash Pickup is not happening cause of the shut down?

Why don't you go pick it up?

Go back and read the very first post in this thread. Do you listen to ANY news from ANYWHERE? Are you OK? Do you need medical help?

Eastern Panhandle Trash IS getting Picked UP! So WHY is Your trash Not getting Picked Up?

Harpers Ferry trash IS being picked up!

I don't think you understand military missions. Those folks aren't just sitting around on their posts and bases. They train constantly, and maintain their equipment. They have to be ready to deploy any time all the time. They can be used for national security issues, but picking up trash is not one of their duties. You seem to have some time on your hands. Maybe you could go out and lend a hand.

I think he lives in New York. I used to live and work there. As dysfunctional as is the State of West Virginia, our state could definitely take some lessons in being that way from the folks in Albany.
