It's not a super common hobby, but I collect and process bones and skulls for collectibles. I don't hunt or kill anything, so as of now I've just been hiking through wooded areas for animal remains to process. I realize it's a strange interest to many people, but I'm wondering if anyone knows some good areas around the Charlestown area for bone hunting. This includes hunter's dumping grounds and such. Perhaps there are some fellow bone collectors here that may have some insight? Or even any farmers/butchers that would be willing to share their discarded bones/raw specimens?

I'm not from WV yet but I know what your talking about. As a kid I put chicken bones on an ant hill to clean them and do some crafty things and later in scouts we did that. I have a friend who does this for his native art and regalia and I have made a few bone handles and toggles and buttons. I was getting bones from a customer who raised organic pigs and paid me in breakfast chops and gave me bones that after we made soup my friend would put in a terrarium full of bugs in his back yard to clean them. Check with local butchers and or ask about their local suppliers, chain stores would not help. This also crosses over with those in the black powder / Mountain Man scene, go to an event and ask around, if your doing any thing arty with them bring some things to show and tell
