Hello. We will be relocating to the Bridgeport/Fairmont area for a job. We plan on renting an apartment for a bit until we find a house to buy. Any suggestions of safe, good apartments to rent in the area?

Look in Bridgeport only if you will be working nearby. Apartments in Bridgeport are small and expensive compared to what you can get for your money in other areas of Clarksburg/Grafton.

There are no unsafe areas in either city but in Fairmont I would avoid near the college or rentals that are typically rented to college students. Bridgeport does mostly have newer apartments and more expensive choices. I'm not sure where you are coming from so apartment prices here may be high or low compared to what you are used to.Probably more complexes in and around Bridgeport and both cities should have some homes for rent also.Bridgeport is a more progressive town but Fairmont has been improving in recent years. You are near amenities and you wouldn't go wrong with either. You are close to Clarksburg with Bridgeport. It is older and has run down areas but there are nice areas in Clarksburg you could look in also. Nutter Fort, Shinnston, and Grafton are small towns near that you may also look at. Nutter Fort is a small bedroom community and Grafton a old railroad town. Grafton has seen better days but it's still a safe town. You may find better prices on rentals there. In that part of the state Bridgeport and Morgantown are the most expensive areas because of growth and supply and demand. Good luck.
