Does anyone know what the future is for the resort? I had heard that someone bought it to put in a planned community, but not sure what the status is. Also, any other planned communities in West Virginia that I should take a look at?

We have family property near Petersburg and to my knowledge Fisher Mountain was one of those over the top development ideas conceived during the real estate boom years in early 2000s- it was even named something else in the beginning. The golf course is still there (and is one of my favorite golf courses) but to my knowledge any plans of residential development have been put on hold indefinitely. The Franklin area unfortunately doesn't have the benefit of being right along Corridor H like Moorefield and Wardensville so the development potential isn't nearly as strong.

Thanks - maybe you might know if there are any communities in West Virginia that we can look at. We're looking for something like the Greenbrier but not so expensive. Doesn't have to be fancy, but amenities are a must to entice visits from future grandchildren. Thanks

Have you looked near Oglebay Park in the Wheeling area? The park offers several activities/amenities and growing. It's home to the annual Winter Festival of Lights. Wheeling is also about an hour from the heart of Pittsburgh. The area surrounding Oglebay Park is rural, but close to downtown Wheeling and The Highlands (massive shopping/entertainment complex).

Maybe check-out the Woods in Hedgesville, WV? It's about 90 miles from the DC Beltway so remote but still close (enough) to civilization.
