I love Garrett County, Maryland and Preston County, WV. You speak about radio I know it is a Quiet zone. The public radio station WFWM out of Frostburg State is excellent. They have a tower to boost the signal in Oakland, Maryland near Deep Creek Lake.

Which makes me curious. I have never stayed at Alpine Lake Resort on the Maryland WV state border.

Does anybody on here have experience with a long weekend stay at Alpine Lake Resort and is it worth a stay or should I just spend some more and stay in Deep Creek?

Also is there anybody that lives in Terra-Alta or alpine lake on this board? Can you get the Frostburg public radio station there? It is 91.3 or 96.3 out of Oakland.

I’d appreciate feedback.

Also, there are some very nice cabins for rent in this area. You are also close to Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks.

If you visit Blackwater, take the short hike out to Lindy Point. It is a beautiful view.

Pipestem Resort State Park is well worth a visit. The Bluestone River flows through it in a fairly deep gorge, offering some gorgeous scenery. You can stand at the top of the valley and look out over the mountains and down toward the river, then take an aerial tramway down to the bottom. I stayed the night there one time, years ago, and in the morning the valley was shrouded in fog. It was a truly sublime moment, and I remember it even now.
