Washington sports aired in Charles Town WV (Jefferson: 2014, rooftop)

relocating to Charles Town WV.. can anyone who lives in Charles Town tell me if you are able to watch the Washington Redskins and the Washington National games on regular cable television .. Or do you have to pay extra to access these games? Do you get the DC channels with regular cable?

I lived in nearby Ranson for six years 2008- 2014. I had a rooftop digital antenna and I had trouble receiving NBC 4, but CBS 9, ABC 7 and Fox 5 came in fine.

If you are on satellite Dish Network/Direct TV or Comcast you shouldn't have trouble watching those games when they are broadcast on network television as Jefferson county is part of the Washington DC television market. Just don't expect the DC stations to cover news stories happening in Charles Town or Ranson. You will have to get your local news from WDVM in Hagerstown. (Formerly NBC 25)

I don't follow sports (with the exception of the very brief return of the XFL) but if a game is not broadcast on the big four networks- I think that would be on the NFL network.

Charles Town and Jefferson county are part of the DC metro area. You should have not problems getting DC sports on cable. Or the Baltimore teams either, for that matter.

Pittsburgh games …… that's another matter.

I was with Dish Network for 21 years; I dumped them last fall for Verizon FIOS. While their DVR isn't as sophisticated as Dish Network's Hopper (Which is the best DVR out on the market) their Internet is to die for.

At this point I won't live anywhere I can't get FiOS. (Yeah, I know I am drinking the Kool Aid).

In Jefferson County you only have Dish Network, Direct TV or Comcast for television. As for internet you have Frontier DSL or Comcast. That is it.

However the tv landscape is changing. If you have high speed internet, you could sign up for one of the over the top services (Cable Killers as I call them) to get your television. Youtube TV/Philo/Sling TV/ATT NOW/Fubo TV/Hulu + Live TV. I would just check their websites to see what they have to offer in terms of sports packages.

The Internet landscape is also changing, companies like Space X, Amazon and Facebook are looking into providing planet wide Internet through a fleet of low earth orbit satellites. If this does get off the ground it will provide (in theory) Internet to anyone, any where on the planet and provide much needed competition.

I use Comcast for both TV and internet. I generally watch NBC4 news which is a DC station. WDVM is the Hagerstown station which is probably a little more local coverage. I'm not specifically touting NBC4 over any other station, but just want to illustrate that the DC stations are the "local" stations here.

If you have Directv, which I do, your sports demarcation for use of the Sports Packages in Directv is BOTH Washington DC/Baltimore and Pittsburgh. So you will get both sports stations in Jeff Co. As for locals all of them are DC Metro and Hagerstown Indy station was just added a couple weeks ago.
