Hampshire County ...NO! Lived in Agusta for 1 year in that time during winter I spun out 6 TIMES Almost got hit by 18 wheelers going the Other way! In Summer is almost as bad when it rains. Roads are Slick & Curvy & Dangerous! Also the drive is Much Farther than Morgan.

Jefferson would be the best. Its near ALL those except Fairfax which is near NoVA/DC.

It may very well be that I'm unreasonably biased against Jefferson County , but I really don't like that place or Berkeley County for that matter .
Way too dense for my taste , with a social ( or should I say people ) scene that isn't to my liking at all .
I appreciate everybody's input though and I might be posting some other threads related to moving to WV sometime in the future .

Check prices, but parts of Virginia around Wincester (north and west, especially, IMO) and some of the places along I-66 (like Linden, VA) are very attractive and still rural and wooded. Your drive would be shorter too.

That's a little more reasonable but I'd be most concerned about how often you'd be traveling to Fairfax County. With the exception of Loudoun, the rest I'd imagine would be manageable (albeit not exactly a short drive). Fairfax is a huge county and with traffic it can be quite a hike just to get from western portions such as Centreville/ Chantilly/ Herndon to south and eastern portions like Fort Belvoir, Alexandria portion of FFX, etc. Good luck though with whatever you decide!

That's good information to put out there. I assumed from the beginning of the thread that you were talking about five NOVA counties. Loudoun and Fairfax are NOVA, the others aren't.
Hopefully you aren't driving into Fairfax county very much, but the commute from Berkeley Springs to Loudoun, Clarke, Frederick and Warren seems realistic to me. It's still a long commute, but probably not different than the Winchester folks traveling down into DC.
I'd still suggest an AWD vehicle in the fleet for those "wintery mix" driving days.
Hopefully this all works out for you. Have you considered just being slightly west of Winchester?

Ah I didn't realize that Frederick/Warren/Clarke aren't considered part of NOVA , but that's what going by vague geographic location does for you I guess .
Anyways I'm definitely considering moving to the Winchester area as well , though I'd much prefer a county with less than thirty thousand residents that's still close enough for a commute if one exists .
Thanks for your input by the way !
