Hello, I am considering buying a property through auction and though it will have a title search I want to check beforehand if there might be liens on the property. The previous owner died over a year ago and I imagine there were unpaid bills like utility or personal bills/judgment liens on it during the slow foreclosure process. I'm trying various WV government sites and I can find tax info which appears to be paid up to date but not seeing any other potential site where I can check specifically for liens. The property is in Preston County.

But with regards to the specific question, which WV tax records website can show property liens?

It would likely be your local county's assessor/auditor's website. The issue is that a lot of WV counties have small and non-maintained websites. So you'll likely have to go to or call the office yourself

Thanks. Yes, I think Preston County qualifies as one of those counties. I tried to use their tax website today, pretty impossible to use.
