I am thinking of transfering to Fairmont State University, if i can get any info on positive and negatives about the school and compared to West Virginia University. Is there much to do in WV around that area?
Also how is the weather? What are the worst weather conditions throughout the year?
Thank You so much for you input and help

Hmm... no
Yea, I went to Fairmont State last year, and well... I hated it. I mean thats just my opinion. I enjoyed going to Morgantown or home to Elkins every chance I got because Fairmont State sucked and Fairmont was rather boring and some parts were really slummy. The school has around 7,000 kids and is really small, and I only had problems there. I had a 2.0 I believe. I transfered to Marshall and I got a 3.4 last semester. I wouldn't recommend Fairmont State University at all. Pick WVU or Marshall if you like bigger. Or some place like Wheeling Jesuit or U. of Charelston if you like smaller. All are great schools.

Personally, I wanted to go to Fairmont a couple of years ago to get a degree only two colleges in the entire state offer. The only poor things I've heard about Fairmont was that there happened to be a lot of STDs floating around among the college campus and a bit of drug use/abuse. I did meet quite a few of the campus staff and such and everyone seemed quite pleasant. However, they did lie to me about how long my commute would be--claiming an hour and a half at the most and it actually being three or more.

I am attending FSU currently.. And I love it...Which I am from a small town and FSU is a small college where if you see someone once most likely your going to see them again unlike WVU where you see one face and i doubt you'll see them again. The fairmont area doesnt have much such as shopping we have a new wal mart opening in March..lots of Shop n Saves, and a few other little shopping places. Morgantown has lots of shopping. But as for FSU college I really like it, there is alot of construction going on right now though. We have a brand new Rec Center just opened last year, a brand new dorm building also opened last year, and there adding on to some buildings. The thing I dont like about the college is how there jacking up our tution every year because of all the contruction going on. There is rumor there building another parking garage because of all the new students this year, which we already have a brand new parking garage opened 3 years ago I believe. Now for WVU... i hear there is barely any parking available and Freshman arent aloud to drive there first year of college because of parking, i could be wrong its just hear say. Well i hope i have helped some!

I guess it depends upon your perspective and how much effort you put into college. I graduated from Fairmont State in '06 with a 4.0 gpa and got a LOT more personal attention than I would have at WVU.

It's my prediction that everyone who posted to this blog has graduated..with the exception of one blogger.
