Something I heard along the way : "If you're not a liberal when you're younger, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative when you're older, you have no brain."

More garbly-goo k . .
Natalie Tennant, the party's nominee for Secretary of State, attended the convention pledged to former Obama rival Hillary Clinton. Tennant said she had not really connected with Obama earlier in the race.
"Maybe I wasn't giving myself a chance to connect,'' Tennant said. "Now, people are going to connect with him, because he is the candidate. He is the one. He's the one who's going to carry our issues forward.''

Don't even get me started on education. Seriously guys... elect me to an office. If you can deal with my pro gay marriage and abortion rights I promise to turn this (county)(state)(country) around.. ha ha ha
R - I think I have a great heart.. most of the time. I'm generally caring and compassionate. I know I use my brain now though, and I'm pretty sure I'm happy with the way I'm using it. I'll always be a liberal. I knew what I stood for way before I even knew what conservative/liberal republican/democrat were. Once I realized that the liberal - Democratic party stood for most of the same things I believed in.. I sided with them.

I'll poke fun of the Obama cult, "the one", but I do take very seriously people doing zeil heil motions . . especially, since we've had a whirlwind of laws enacted over the last 6 years that have put us on the brink of tyranny. People are going to hand over absolute power to this snake oil salesman?
Wake up and smell the dictatorship.
It's a pity the propagandists, i.e., Fox News, ties in skepticism of "the one" into allegiance to "the W", which is a bunch of spew that alienates indepedent thinkers from McCain. I have a high degree of distain for that decendent of Longshanks currently occupying the White House, and he is in no uncertain terms "anti-American".
To it's credit, the US Supreme Court, the highest law in the land, agreed with my opinion, ruling 70+ counts of The Patriot Act as "Un-Constitutional", which is to say, "Un-American". And some other folks like Ron Paul usually agree with me too, but they use better words.
What is the role of journalism? Even in West Virginia, we have everything there is to know about some pregnant 17yr old in Alaska. Scale of relevancy :
Did I make her pregnant?
No.
Is she related to me? Did someone related to me, or did anyone I know make make her pregnant?
No.
Does she have anything to do with the grand scheme of all things?
Uh, no not really.
So is it any of our concern?
So how bout' it? [addressing media at large] Go do your job as journalist and get facts on issues, instead of dumping on us citizens, disorganized and unfunded, to somehow piece it all together all the time, these "unanswered questions", and "unasked questions". This case was filed 2 weeks ago, and all we hear is crickets.

GHO my elderly friends/neighbors are going Obama. Mainly I hear anger at how their grandchildren have been deprived of legacy if that's any consequence to younger folks. Hard as it may be to believe, many of them express more concern about their kids health care plan & jobs going overseas because they're seeing their families struggle in ways that worry them.
Paraphrased phone conversation last week...
Retired lutheran minister, PhD, 78, paleoconservative republican 50 yrs says:
"You really ought to get someone from your side of the fence to convert Bush to catholicism. Let him sit in a box confessing for the rest of his life the atrocities he's committed in 8 of the most asinine & corrupt years this country has ever had to endure."
Former catholic replies: "The Vatican's already given Condoleeza the bum's rush, so don't be thinking you can pawn him off on the Pope. The born again crowd is hiding from embarrassment. Maybe someone could offer him a feel good ride on a comet?"
Older folks tend to take the long view that you don't have the benefit of yet, but they hear what you're saying and have plenty to say themselves. Don't mistake this for an old guard v new guard argument because that's a straw man. They just see the world differently, and most importantly know where old mistakes were made. They tend to think in terms of what's best for all with horse sense because they've raised a family. Once you're a parent, you're a parent for life in many ways- something else difficult to relate to until you've worn that hat. Your pet issues are drops in the larger ocean to them, not a wink/nod or rallying cry of anti GHO. The 'enemy' is absent here.
Straw man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Strunk & White level higher education won't tolerate intellectual dishonesty, so don't get in habits before you lose GPA over it. Fallacies in logic only confuse the real issues, which is often the intended goal (to win at the expense of the truth rather than the result of truth). Don't allow yourself to be alexus in the eyes of your professors when your GPA is your resume. NOW go kick some butt for all of us.
R- Rupert... Star magazine. Same guy who published zoom lens crotch shots of princess Di working out at the gym in his english tabloids. How neo cons dominating the republican party could equate his news with morality, representing family values or american ideals is beyond my comprehension.
Thanks for those links, and the quote... I interpret that as how poorly armed our government is in dealing with the tendrils of corporations above honest business practice. Can't see the forest from the trees. He's obviously an intelligent man, and I could appreciate most of what he said, but when he rigidly locks himself into libertarianism it blinds him to the consequences. He still can't see one dishonest message could be repeated in unison throughout the world at the behest of one human being with too much money in his pockets using nations to play chess. Repeat a lie often enough and it magically becomes fact is an element of the world that's been exploited. Notice how he represented himself as if he were a 20yr vet of the anti trust dept, when factually he did 1 yr, so naivete was an issue despite his denial. I wish Michael would respond to that publicly in retrospect of resignation.
Matrix reference would have more to do with status quo which is antithetical to Obama. Poor analogy. Give me creep evidence, I'll certainly look at it.
Wondering if in your reading travels you've come across a reliable republican source that sticks with facts- not masticated with opEd. Closest thing I've found is self declared paleoconservative "The new conservative", but they take liberal positions which I find odd. Trend or redefinition of party? Blurred with libertarians? Personally, I've never considered any news source liberal or conservative, just telling the truth in context or not.
Sick of pundits desperate to pigeon hole american's? Here's a chuckle.

Politely disagree, I'm not "the one" calling him "the one".
Pointing it out that promoting this "one" thing should be looked at with a high degree of scrutiny, as it's painting him in a light . . I want to use the word demogogue, but I don't know if that's the right word.
Demagogy (also demagoguery) (Ancient Greek δημαγωγία, from δῆμος dēmos "people" and ἄγειν agein "to lead") refers to a political strategy for obtaining and gaining political power by appealing to the popular prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public — typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist or populist themes.
As for being a creep . . I do have an example of the "snake oil salesman", but give me a minute to put it together. Most likely, if you don't see it, then it's because you refuse to see it. And that would be the end of our conversation on that

I Guess I've Chosen A Better State For Our 2nd Home
because as I've matured I've become more and more conservative in a very liberal state. I am tired of people turning to their own personal gratification when making the laws and not revisiting the bible. Politicians should not rewrite the laws of God...they should work to enforce them. Amen

Just the whole problem with not everyone believing in "your" god a god in general... We are a free democracy, we do not have a state religion, any and all or none are accepted.
