Just curious as to what various residents are paying and if there is a max limit or a max increase per year?

When looking at houses, I would say that most run around $300.00 per year and the communities with pools were in the $600.00. I know a community down from me had an initiation fee as well and the community doesn't offer anything but a boat ramp to the Potomac.

Our HOA fees are $400 per year.
The condo HOA fees at my son's place is about $600 per year (no pool or clubhouse).
Our HOA fee at our cabin in Canaan Valley is about $1,000 per year.

I guess I should add that I am in the Eastern Panhandle area.

Wow Vec, $1000.00 a year? I hope you have good amenities. I know the Woods in Hedgesville also have high HOA's as well.

I just noticed the new smilies

I've seen 1100 square foot condominium at Snowshoe with an $1100 per month HOA/Mountain Service Fees. Mountain Service Fee is up to 1-1/2% of the assessed value of your property, assessed at 60%. This is a huge fee which provides free shuttle bus for guests, fire and public safety, maintenance and repair of common areas on the mountain. HOA dues takes care of the exterior of the structure and common areas of your condominium complex.

As opposed to this, a homesite in one of the off-mountain developments, generally average $400 per year homeowners association fees. Mainly to take care of snow removal and road maintenance.

Expensive to live on the mountain, that is why everyone rents their condos.

I think it's so high cuz it pays for full-time guards at entrance to community, roads, roads plowed, etc.
