Born and raised near Paw Paw and am looking for anyone who has private land for riding 2 small 4 wheel atv's a couple weekends during the summer. We are a responsible middle aged couple who will respect your property and pay cash for the privelege to ride on it. Old dirt road in woods or just big open field area. I am related to Cowgill, Kerns, Voit, Fowler and Bailey families but Grandparents have passed (Welby and Virginia) so the land was sold. We are looking for someone in the Paw Paw, Berkley Springs, Slanesville or Romney area that has land. Again. we will not harm your property in any way and will pay cash that you might be able to use towards some of your bills. Thank you for your consideration.

If our politicos were smart (er) they would see the need and the market to make more of the rails-to-trails areas camper friendly to ATV's.
In Wv we have over 700,000 of these machines...more per capita than any other state...I've joked that it is the DUI vehicle of choice...when one loses his/her license...

In the southern part of the state a county or two is doing that...tapping the ATV market for trail and camping use...It's blowing off the map with out-of-state and in-state users...

ATV's are here to stay and the money they garner could be an attraction to us...as such, the trails are limited to bicycles and walking...horseback riding is discourgaged by the mindless trail keeepers...

I'm hoping that as Wv changes with the influx of newbies...a new idea or two might creep in to the parks department...We need new ideas for the new Wv.
Our state is a wilderness and could be made accessible with the use of logging roads and old railroad pathways...cheap to do and if you can get people to come here...they will spend money...do it every time...

Mountain bikes and ATVs cause a considerable amount of destruction to the land. We have a park nearby where a large segment of it has been torn up by the recreational riders. In addition to destroying the vegetation, they saw fit to chop down the trees and dig up mounds to create ramps.

Please keep ATV riding in State and/or National Parks OUT of the parks in Canaan Valley area. In addition to tearing up the land, ATV's are soooooo noisy. People who come to Canaan don't want that.
