I'm from South East Asia and I'll be moving to Huntington the area that is part of Wayne County. Are there any Asian markets or stores in the area. If not, are there any in WV at all?

There are plenty of Asians here. There is a Chinese resturant in every little town. South Charleston has a Chinese store and a Vietnamese resurant. You won't have to go far to meet up with some Paisano.

After i reread your post, The place in South chas might not be what you are looking for. There is a place in Kanawha city that carries some different type foods. Krogers carries a mess of exotic type foods. What exactly are you looking for and we can go from there.

There used to be an international market here in Huntington but the guys that ran it were from Lebanon and they had to return home unexpectedly for a family emergency and they just closed it down. There is a place in Huntington called Julian's that isn't an Asian Market but he does carry many ethnic things you don't find in the larger chain stores. In terms of Asian restaurants though, there are plenty. Hibachi, Taste of Asia, Happy Dragon, China Garden and a few others. Thanks to Marshall University and our wonderful hospitals, there are plenty of foreign born residents here as well. Some of the people involved in those businesses/organizations might be able to tell you about markets that I am unaware of. If you find one, be sure to let me know. And if there is a small business person out there reading this who is involved in such businesses, this is an unfilled niche in Huntington that would likely be very profitable. There is a seafood market and a butcher here in Huntington that may fill some of your needs though. Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more info.

Tim

There is a decent Filipino population in the Metro Valley (Hunt/Chas). I used to know them very well. Kanawha Valley Physical Therapy Center is run by a family from the Philippines region of Cebu.

West Virginia Word Vocabulary:
Definition: decent: meaning positive, good.
used as an adjective in some cases...as an exclamatory...DECENT! (incredible)
Used rarely as a negative in Wv.

Someone asked the question: 'Why do they come here...meaning the asians and indians. Let me paint a word picture.
What if, with some education a person could go to a foriegn land and make a million dollars a year...
He could stay there, build a large home and bring the immediate family for a year...send them back home and bring some others...live and work here and retire with a literal fortune.

That's the financial vehicle America is for educated 3rd world professionals.
Doctors and Tech Professionals by the hundreds of thousands are here earning this money...and sending it back home to relieve the misery of their homelands people.

They are not the only ones doing this...many Cubans and Mexicans do it with the minumum wage.

Here in the USA we do it too, but in reverse...it's called the welfare dole...

the trouble is this...with the horrible increase in single births, we are creating a next generation that will end our system of living as we know it.

Government Money must be invested in infrastructure works that eventually produce income and wealth...that is the difference between the Depression Investments of Roosevelt's administration and now.
