New studies show the US has overtaken Russia to become #1 in Natural Gas Reserves. A portion of the reserves are in WV via the relatively recent "find" - the Marcellus shale deposits.
T. Boone Pickens is working hard to see the govt passes legislation such as H.R. 1835-- The NAT GAS Act so that the US can reduce its dependence on foreign oil.
Wait a minute, I thought Pickens was a global warming supporter.
Oh he is - but natural gas doesn't pollute as much as coal, etc.

Do support the drilling and without a doubt support getting away from US reliance on imported oil.
Not sure how the Pickens supported NG bills would jive with the Cap & Trade bill. But if they in ANY way help to defeat the Cap & Trade bill, then I am all for them (I think ).
BTW - Is there much drilling going on in the WV Marcellus shale deposit? Not sure how recent economic events have affected this.

I believe it. While we may disagree on Cap and Trade I like where you are going with this one. I have never understood why we don't place more of an emphasis on natural gas in this country.
Not sure whether they're drilling for oil or gas, but there are a lot of well service trucks going up and down 119 towards WV every day.
The Wetzel County paper has frequent comments about drilling activity in the area (mostly regarding how it's tearing up the back roads). At this point, it's probably exploratory to determine the extent of the deposits, not production wells yet.
Cap and Trade would do NOTHING to solve the world's environmental issues. It would actually make them worse by destroying millions more American jobs and forcing production to countries that have minimal regulation of particulate emissions and imposing thousands of dollars of taxes on American taxpayers. The notion that man made CO2 emissions is a culprit is fabricated and bogus. So is the notion that farts, from cows or otherwise, will bring about the destruction of the world as we know it.
These pompous, elitist bozos all have their heads in places that block their natural methane gas releases.
The Marcellus Shale was mapped by Phillips Petroleum in the late 1960's and early 70's. Wells over 15,000 ft mdeep were spuded and sealed...
We will use this gas and it will be expensive...about the price of gasoline or higher $4.00.
