If you want an easy to get to place to go to board or ski, go to Winterplace Ski Resort in Ghent, near Flat Top. They make tons of snow on top of what falls naturally. AWESOME! The best place we've found to stay is the condos at the top of the hill. You can walk out the door and start down the slopes. Check it out at Accommodations-Slopeside.com. You can even take a virtual tour.

Thanks, Boarder..

I was checking my bindings and boots last week...wanting new boots, TFS...

We have Wisp over here and it's pretty nice...Hoping to get up to 7-Springs this year...Canaan? Wish Thomas was in the heart of that little gem...

We had the family in for Christmas at Canaan a few years ago and it was great...all except the oldest boy telling us about Breckenridge, Aspen and the others...He gets a pass for the entire year out there.

What Wv needs to do now is make some of the sides of the golf courses at the parks into ski slopes and even CC runs...
With Casinos at the parks, winter money could be gathered in all year long.

Anybody hear anything about a new casino behind Tamarac?

Ohio scrapped their legislation..leaving the pickings to Wv and Pa.

Hello, Tennesseean here, headed to Winterplace. I usually head to Sugar in NC for my skiing fix due to proximity, but I think Winterplace will be better because we're bringing some beginners. One of the people we're bringing is a sister-in-law from London ... England.

The one thing that really stands out when I compare Winterplace to the NC ski areas is the lack of "development" around Winterplace. I was wondering what the reason was for that?

Also, what are some suggested family activities in proximity to Winterplace?

Thanks.
Richard from Johnson City, TN

Winterplace has a lack of development for many reasons. One being that it's in a rural location, not within close proximity to any major cities. Second, being that it's not the premier ski resort in the state. Winterplace is located along a smaller mountain, with fewer trails.

Snowshoe Mountain is by far the more popular ski resort, and actually one of the better recognized in the Eastern US Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort - Official Website - Snowshoe, West Virginia
